Assistant Set Decorator

A varied series which involved sourcing artworks, furniture, props and lighting, for both the stage built sets and the locations. The project involved working with prop makers to create bespoke designs for key scripted props, commissioning artworks and upholstered antiques.

Based at the Warner Brother’s studios in Leavesden this ambitious project involved working with a highly skilled team of artisans, painters and art directors to create numerous bespoke props and items of furniture designed specifically for the film.

During the initial prep we worked on finding the aesthetic style of the interiors, curating a ‘look’ that was both fresh and contemporary yet relatable to the Barbie toy world that we all know. We drew from both contemporary and mid century design, classic Hollywood glamour and archival Barbie material.

My role involved overseeing a number of sets, as well as having an eye on the overall aesthetic. I worked closely with our props team to dress sets and with the drapes and paint workshops to finalise props and furniture. I sourced a number of key designer furniture pieces from around the globe and negotiated a special film rates for loans and purchases. I also took on the project of Barbie’s wardrobe, liaising with Chanel and the costume department to come up with the final looks and layout.

Based at Pinewood Studios in Leavesden this project involved large scale abstract sets for which we drew on contemporary art projects, abstract photography and traditional Marvel comics.

I focused on decorating the world of ‘Tarnax’, working closely with small furniture businesses and lighting designers in the UK and abroad to create bespoke pieces, as well as our drapes department to design and create accessories from initial concept to realisation.

Psychological thriller set in a contemporary London apartment.

Set Decorating this project involved working closely with Dan Taylor the designer on location selection and the overall feel of the film, and with Anthony Dod Mantle on the lighting design.

Jnr Assistant Set Decorator

Working with Set Decorator Alice Felton to create the look of the hotel in which the film takes place. In addition to prop hires we worked closely with a number of furniture and lighting brands including Julian Chichester, Neptune, Heathfield and Soho Home. I negotiated with brands to organise product placements for items including candles, fragrance, glassware and accessories, lighting, alcohol & bar wares.

My role also involved overseeing and decorating an old English pub set. This included hiring furniture, artwork and lighting, product placing alcohol and bar food, purchasing quirky details from various online sources and working with our graphic design team to organise labels & signage.

An incredibly rich experience assisting Set Decorator Katie Spencer.

For this film we started in the UK, I was sourcing unusual and rare antiques from all across Europe and hiring props from UK and Italian prop houses.

After the initial weeks prep I was based in Sicily with the team and started prepping for the shoot, dressing, sourcing in Italy and co-ordinating prop makes, as well as liaising with the standby art director for action props and on set requests.

Working closely with Set Decorator Charlotte Watts my role moved between buying and set dressing throughout the film. I spent time researching 18th century materials, fabric designs & furniture then moved on to fabric, wallpaper, prop sourcing & buying. We had a large prop making & upholstery team which I and helped to co-ordinate and worked closely with dressing props installing artwork, small props and furniture.

Art Department Assistant - Petty Cash Buyer

I spent the duration of this project working between the Art Department & Set Dec department, drawing plans on AutoCAD, surveying locations, sourcing & buying fabrics, furniture and wallpaper and set dressing.

Art Department Assistant - Petty Cash Buyer

Working closely with Designer Suzie Davies, Supervising Art Director Daniel Taylor and Set Decorator Charlotte Watts. The role involved surveying locations, model making and drafting plans on Auto CAD. I was responsible for booking and coordinating interns throughout the production and assisted the Set Decorator with prop sourcing and buying, set dressing and props making. During the shoot I spent time assisting the Standby Art Director on location and working as the on set buyer.

Assisting the Art Department with administrative and creative tasks, my role began with researching the period, coordinating the calendar, booking meetings and working with Supervising Art Director, Daniel Taylor, carrying out location surveys and drawing up CAD plans. Creative responsibilities included prop making and sourcing, petty cash buying, set dressing and painting.

Assistant Set Decorator

A music video shoot that involved prop sourcing from hire companies, markets and antiques shops and decorating a number of different apartments at our London location. I worked closely with Designer Francesca Di Mottola, selecting furniture, accessories and artwork.

Working closely with Set Decorator Charlotte Watts and Art Director Jane Brodie, my role involved making props for the painting shop set, dressing props at the market and London street scenes and touching up gloss effects on the recreated paintings.

Collaborating with Goldsmiths MA Filmmaking whilst studying at Wimbledon, I worked with the Director and Cinematographer to find locations, source props and furniture and create a distinct aesthetic for this short film.

Icarus is a short film I shot and designed whilst at University, based on the Greek Myth of Icarus' fall to Earth and her journey to escape.

This project was a collaboration with Producer Milly Riley and Costume Designer Samanfah Wilson.
